Culprits arrested; she suffering in gang- rape : Castevirus 001OD 2013
The day after gang-raped, she continues to be unconscious. Police are unable to take her statement. She is critical and being treated in the SCB Medical Collage and Hospital in cuttack.
A tribal Dalit woman, 28, in Kuamada village near Banki, dist: Cuttack at Odisha state was found an unconscious in a critical condition in the forest on Sunday evening.
“There are serious injury marks on her private parts indicating that she was raped by more than one person,” said sub divisional police officer Ramesh Panigrahi.
As the villagers informed to police, she admitted in hospital and immediately raids conducted in search of culprits.
Police nabbed three accused on Monday, Gundicha Samal, 38, Abhay Pradhan, 26, and Krupasindhu Jena, 30. They are local liquor sellers from Athagarh.
The three culprits were returning to Athagarh after buying liquor on Sunday. They buttonholed the divorcee when found she working alone in the field on the outskirt of the village. The culprits forcibly dragged her to the secluded place at forest, raped her and fled.
The incident prompts anger in the area. Villagers have blocked a state highway demanding action against the culprit and compensation for the woman.
