Channel 4 & BBC team in Khairlanji today

10Aug07

In an important happening, Khairlanji Massacre gets notice of the Media crossing country barriers one more time. Chanel 4 and BBC team were in Bhandara town on 6th August with Atrocitynews correspondant to take  stock of the situation.  It’s not surprising when they learnt Khairlanji Massacre (wherein Priyanka and Surekha alledgely raped and murdered in front of crowd of 50)  is just one among 250 + murderous atrocities commited on dalits by caste forces in India. Due to organised efforts from different corners of aware citizenary and specially by second generation educated dalit-youth who could successfully dessiminate  information through blogs like this, it became possible to sensitise civil society on this vital issue. The first interaction of international media to KhairlanjiMassacre is like ‘how can a democratic country take such inhuman, cruel atrocities so lightly?’ Surely it is a cold murder of human values for whose protection enitre democratic processes are designed .

  1. 1 'Citizen' of India

Where is mainstream Indian media, I think it loosed the sense of its duty as media. Most of the time I found Indian media either ignorant about such issues or the journalist in India dont know Indian history, civics, geography, and politics.

The Indian judiciary: We need to study and see if we ever had any space in judiciary. Where is space for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes. See the criminal justice reform reports proposed by Justice Malimath which are against the rights of vulnarable communities. We need a review of Indian judiciary and create a space for justice for every section of the society. This justice is missing since specially for the SC/STs.
In USA there are elected judges and nominated judges.

We can have proportionate 50% of the SC/ST/OBC judges elected by SC/ST/OBC in Indian judiciary from small courts to Supreme Courts.
There many more things need to be changed. Given a chance we can draft a Criminal justice reform bill which will control most of the future communal riots and atrocities committed on SC/ST/ Christians /Muslims and other minorities.

How did Atrocitynews Forget to mention about Bahan Mayawati’s decision on Reservation in Private sector?
This should have been the discussion point on this blog.
Is it negligence or allergy to BSP?
