Affirmative action: Protest in Delhi on 25th Apr

25Apr07

Delhi University faculty and students for Equal Opportunity have called for a demonstration at Jantarmantar from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, 25th April, 2007, against the repeated lewd rulings of the Supreme Court’s against reservation for OBC in institutions of higher education. Nowhere in the world (with the exception of India ) judges are appointed by other judges. I was told that most of the judges in our higher courts come from just 200-300 families. Judges choosing new judges is nothing short of incestuous inbreeding. And just as inbreeding accentuates unwelcome genetic traits, our current judges suffer from inbreeding problem – a severe case of supreme upper castitis. This debilitating malady requires an immediate dose of 100% reservation in the judiciary.

Let us come out in full strength to pray for quick recovery of the Supreme Court from its fatal sickness. Let us also try to cure not only for its latest insanity and arbitrariness but also their arbitrary bar of a maximum of 50% reservation everywhere. Nowhere in the constitution there is any hint of need for such a bar. Further, let us loudly and persistently call for 100% reservation everywhere, starting with the Supreme Court itself. All segments of our society must be reflected in all institutions of the society, especially the most powerful ones, starting with the Supreme Court itself. Let us come to gether and think about curing the Suprem Court if its “Supreme Upper Castitis ” ailment by an indefinite prayer vigils and dharnas on this important issue.

Please do come out in full strength in join Delhi University faculty and students for equal opportunity in prayer vigil for fastest recovery of the current severely sick Supreme Court at Jantarmantar from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, 25th April, 2000
